North West England consists of the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. Major towns and cities in the region include Carlisle, Chester, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston and Salford.
North East England has four counties in the region: County Durham; Tyne and Wear; Northumberland and part of North Yorkshire. Cities and large towns in the region include Newcastle upon Tyne, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead, Darlington and Hartlepool.
Yorkshire and the Humber consists of the counties of East Riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire (excluding areas in Tees Valley of North East England), South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. Cities in the region include Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Hull, and York.
West Midlands consists of the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. Cities in the region include Birmingham, Coventry, Hereford, Lichfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton and Worcester.
East Midlands consists of the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire (except North and North East Lincolnshire), Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. Cities and large towns in the region include Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Mansfield, Northampton and Nottingham.

It consists of the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire. Major towns and cities in the region include Basingstoke, Southampton, Portsmouth, Slough, Reading and Oxford.
The South East along with the South of England is half of South East England, one of the nine official regions of England at the first level of ITL for statistical purposes. It consists of the counties of East Sussex, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey and West Sussex. Major towns and cities in the region include Brighton and Hove, Milton Keynes, Cambridge and Canterbury.
